Tennant Creek – 13th November 2020 What a great day we have had! Approximately 200 people attended the NAIDOC March and BBQ, which was sponsored by Saltbush Social Enterprises and RISE‑Ngurratjuta. In attendance were several guest speakers, including the Mayor of Tennant Creek, Jefferey McLaughlin. The local newspaper was also covering the event. It was a warm day and temperatures got up to 43 degrees, we are thankful that you all came and helped us celebrate.

Pizza Friday

Mutitjulu Rise-Ngurratjuta CDP participants were all involved in Pizza Friday. They held a meeting earlier in the week and decided what toppings they would all like on their pizzas. There was a wide variety of pizzas on offer when the participants finished constructing them, and all were very tasty. The pizzas were all cooked in the Rise-Ngurratjuta pizza oven which was constructed by CDP participants. This pizza oven arrived in a kit form and was assembled and then decorated with hand-painted tiles. The participants have been utilising the pizza oven for cooking damper as well. Congratulations Chris Dixon

Christopher is a 24-year-old Anangu man who showed interest in working at the local pool in Mutitjulu. We started the process of getting Chris’s Identification together in October and received his approved Working with Children’s Check over Christmas. Chris was able to start work at the Pool on the 7th January and the Manager has nothing but praise for Chris’s work ethic, attendance and vigilance when watching children in the pool area. The Manager is so impressed he has started talking about giving Chris additional training as a lifeguard after his probation period.
